Abstract

This was descriptive observasional with cross sectional study. The subject of research to judgement were variables in this research.Variables in this research is a GMP practice (Good Manufacturing Practices) and SSOP (Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures hadsettled management, environment of refi neries and control facility, condition building of space food refi neries, entirety refi neries facility, water source, storeroom of food material, cook kit and food vessel, system of storage food material and foo be in use, food worker, presentation of food, and distribution of food. The result of the research showed that aspect environment of refi neries and control facility, condition building of space food refi neries, storeroom of food material, system of storage food material and foo be in use, food worker, and presentation of food including category of good. It is suggested, implemented the requirements program HACCP such as GMP and SSOP before implementedHACCP system in Katering X Surabaya so that implemented HACCP system can be function of good.Key words: GMP, SSOP, HACCP

Abstract

“Nasi tempe penyet” is one of traditional favorite food in Surabaya. This menu is consisting of rice, fried tempe, fresh vegetables and chilli ketchup. The purpose of this research was to observe the hygiene of the food handlers, sanitation facility and hygiene of nasi tempe penyet. This was a descriptive research with cross sectional approach. There were 12 nasi tempe penyet street vendors at Karangmenjangan street, Surabaya who became respondent. Data collected using questionnaire and check list. There were several hygiene of the food handlers must be considered. They did not using apron and uniform. Conditions of sanitation facility did not meet the standard including the selling location, handling of garbage and grey water and also washing the cooking tools. In general food sanitation of nasi tempe penyet was good. The E. coli parameters were negative. The nasi tempe penyet street vendors at Karangmenjangan street need training about personal hygiene and food sanitation. They have to be relocated for minimized the risk of food contamination.   Keywords: hygiene and sanitation, street vendors, ‘nasi tempe penyet”

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to observe the hygiene of refill drinking water operators, building and equipment sanitation also the sanitation facility of drinking water depo. This was a descriptive research with cross sectional approach. There were 6 refill drinking water depo at at Tanjung Redep, Berau, East Borneo which became observed. Data collected using questionnaire and check list. There were several of operators hygiene must be considered. They did not using special uniform for work and did not washing their hands before handling the water. Conditions of building and equipment were meet the standards. But the sanitation facilities were minimals, the wash basin for operators and its tools were not available. In general, hygiene and sanitation of drinking water depo were good. The coliform and E. coli parameters in production water were negative. It is sugessted to provide training about hygiene and sanitation for the owners and operators of refill drinking water depo.   Keywords: hygiene and sanitation, refill drinking water depo

Abstract

Domestic port sanitation has to be evaluated completely with three aspects i.e technical aspect such as facility of sanitary importance that are cleanlines and sanitary code; social aspect such as cultural, social and economics; and administration and management aspect i.e implementation of management functions. Gresik port is domestic port class II, that serves interisland passenger crossing Gresik - Bawean island, and also loading and unloading goods. Implementation of port sanitation is intended as preventing incidence of disease. Further analyzed focussed on implementation of sanitation activity in building of passenger terminal, based on observation which was conducted at June 2003. Implementation of port sanitation from technical aspect, was good enough. In social aspect, better cooperation between top level management, port employees and consumer or public society are needed, to create healthy port environment. Furthermore, to reach the best result needs cooperation with other sectors for example commerce and communication sectors. In aspect of administration and management which is required emphasized in controlling periodically by Public Health Department of Province together with local Public Health Department, at least once a year. Because of fund limitation cooperation among stakeholder should be carried out together. Keywords : domestic port, management

Abstract

Pesticide is widely used in agriculcural process, from seeding to harvesting and it also protecting crops. Pesticide is applied to control pest, weed and diseases and also stimulate plant growth. However, pesticide can also cause pollution to the environment, damage of ecosystem balance, and decrease of quality of human life. For this reason, pesticide must be used wisely and safely, then the negative impacts can be minimized. Pollution caused by pesticide can be prevented in many ways, such as handling pesticide safely, disposing its waste in the right ways, controlling all activities related to pesticide, and applying “back to nature” system in agriculture. Keywords: negative impacts, pesticide, prevention

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study whether noise in the work place can caused occupational stress among workers exposed to it. This was an observational research that was done cross-sectionally among all workers at 7 Rice Milling Company located at Metatu Village-Benjeng Gresik (31 workers). Primary data including: noise intensity levels was taken by using Sound Level Meter (Kanomax), while respondents perceptions on noise (feeling discomfort or not), symptoms of stress (headache, hypertension, gastro-intestinal disorders, anger feeling, shoulder pain, forgetfulness, easy to blame others) were taken by direct interview using questionnaire. The results presented in frequency-distribution table and cross-tabulation. While correlation between variables were analyzed descriptively and the strength of the correlation was analyzed by using contingency coefficient (C). It was concluded that most of respondents had stress symptoms including headache, hypertension, anger feeling and forgetfulness. The symptoms of low back pain and shoulder pain caused by ergonomic factors (loading and repetitive awkward posture). There were correlation (strong enough) between headache and perception of noise (C = 0.499). While the correlation between noise perception and hypertension, anger feeling, forgetfulness were weak with C: 0.162, 0.295 and 0.043 respectively. The mean of noise intensity level was 95.58 dBA (more than the Threshold Limit Values recommended by Indonesian’s Minister of Labor No. 51-1999 namely 85 dBA).Key words: noise, occupational stress, worker

Abstract

Abstract: A healthy snack is a snack that is free of rhodamin B and sodium cyclamate is not exceeding the limit . Research’s purposes is to identify a knowledge and attitudes about the use of rhodamine hawker traders B and sodium cyclamate . This study is a descriptive cross sectional design . The study of population hawker traders are around SDN Pucang I and IV Sidoarjo . The sample size is the overall study population by 13 merchants and 7 samples snacks . Collection of data is through observation and interviews . Examination of rhodamin B and sodium cyclamate done through laboratory tests . The results showed that lacking of knowledge of the majority of traders is about 53.8% , having a good attitude of 53.8%, and in the sample of snacks are not found the use of rhodamin B as well as natrium cyclamate in excess of levels . Conclusions of research is that, the level of knowledge of most traders are unfaforable but traders mostly good attitude which is in line with the results of the study being found no use of rhodamine B and sodium cyclamate that exceed the limit . The relevant agencies such as the health department should conduct the extension of health more frequent, as well as, the traders shouldbe motivated to attend the extension of health, and to get a counseling regarding food additives , rhodamin B and sodium cyclamate , and schools should provide healthy cafeteria for their students.Keywords: the attitude of traders, knowledge of trader, sodium cyclamate, and rhodamin B.
