Introduction: Nutritional problems in children with cerebral palsy (CP) may occur due to inadequate dietary intake. This study aimed to identify food consumption and nutritional intake adequacy in relation to the nutritional status of CP children in Jakarta, Depok, and Bogor.Methods: This cross-sectional study conducted in Special Schools and Institute for Physically and Mentally Handicapped Children . The 45 subjects were selected by purposive sampling, The data collected by questionnaires, food consumption by 1x24-hour food record method, and nutritional status which was assessed from body mass index (BMI)-for-age.Results: The eating frequency had a strong positive correlation with the nutritional status of CP children with a value of 0,636. The intake level of macronutrient fulfilled was only protein with a strong positive correlation of 0,729 with the nutritional status of CP children. Spearman correlation value of 0,885 showed the strongest positive correlation between the type of fruits consumed and nutritional status. Zinc (p=0,037) and vitamin C (p=0.008) intake levels had significant associations with nutritional status.Conclusion: The higher the intake levels of zinc and vitamin C, the better the nutritional status of CP children. The more often the frequency of snacking and the type of food containing protein and fruits, the better the nutritional status of CP children.Keywords: cerebral palsy, food consumption, nutritional intake levels, nutritional status.
